post Try Some Oats Today

oats

You might want to try some oats today.  Oats are low in calories and high in fiber and protein.  They are also rich in magnesium, potassium, zinc, copper, manganese, selenium, thiamine, and pantothenic acid.   They are also great because they are inexpensive, great tasting, and easily found in many cereals.

If you’ll notice, many cereals today are claiming they have the ability to help lower your cholesterol.  The same soluble fiber found in oats that reduces cholesterol (beta glucan) can also benefit those who suffer from type 2 diabetes.  This is because the soluble fiber slows the rate at which food leaves the stomach and it delays the absorption of glucose.

I have several people in my family with diabetes.  I’ve been preaching to them about the benefits of grain and wheat bread versus white bread.  Looks like I have another product to preach about.  lol
