Make It From Scratch #26
August 14th, 2007
Â

Hello everyone. I am this week’s host of the Make It From Scratch Blog Carnival. I hope you will enjoy the carnival. There is a large selection of ideas to inspire us all.
Recipes and Yummy Things to TryÂ
Bridget at . . . And Miles Before We Sleep . . . gives us a cool kid recipe and craft, Dirt Cake in a Flower Pot. This seems easy enough that I could let my 2 and 4 year old help with the recipe.
Stephanie from Stop the Ride! gives us Halibut; a Recipe, a Lesson. Stephanie shares a recipe for halibut and a lesson in being frugal.Â
Summer at Summer’s Nook tells us how to make Blackberry Skillet Cobbler. She even has pictures to go along with each step. This looks so yummy!Â
Michelle at Scribbit tells us how to make Wild Blueberry Jam. This is her first time making the jam and it looks like she did a great job. These would definitely make a nice Christmas present for friends and family.
Mary at Keeper of the Home presents Who’s Scared of Godzilla? Mary made got tired of spending $25 on cakes from Wal-Mart, so she decided to be frugal and make her own. Thrifty Mommy is proud.
Heather at Home Ec 101 tweaked a salad recipe to make it yummy. She says that Bacon Makes It Better. My hubby would definitely agree with that.
Devildogwife presents Gluten Free Baked Donuts posted at Marine Corps Nomads.  Devildog wife has many other gluten free recipes on her site. I was pleased to find these and am passing this on to my friend with allergies.
Suzanne at Adventures in Daily Living gives us a great looking recipe, Blueberry Cream Cheese Yumminess. I love this time of year when we can get fresh fruits and vegetables for our creations.
G.P. at INNside Innkeeping in Montana gives us Strawberries. Blueberries and the Farmer’s Market. Stop by for recipes such as blueberry buckle, strawberry fool, blueberry pancakes, and more!
Tips, Crafts, and Other Great Things to Try
Life Lessons from a Military Wife shares Top 20 Household Secrets from Grandma. I know you’ll find some home remedies and tips that you can use.Â
Joanna at Keeping Feet hasn’t been participating in the carnival these past few weeks and now I see why. She has been working so hard on completing a beautiful baby blanket for her friends. Â
Cindy at My Recycled Bags shows us how to Crochet a Recycled Clothes Pins Bag. She made this bag out of plastic grocery bags, which is great because the bag allows for water drainage so that her clothes pins don’t get moldy.
Annette at Frugal Journey tells us How to Grow Hydroponic Herbs. She says that growing hydroponic herbs is easy, because even she can do it.
Dora Renee’ Wilkerson at Y-2K Hippie shows us how to do Kumihimo braiding.  She has included lots of pictures to help us through the process and she has some videos posted on YouTube. Â
At It’s All for the Best, Heather Lessiter showed how she and her husband made their son a running-resistance parachute. I didn’t know that they made these, but Heather and her hubby were frugal and made their own. Pretty nifty creation.
Zam shows us the fish tank that she and her sister worked on at Verb:Â Pit, Fish, Pet.
HowtoMe tells us How to Teach Your Visual Learner to Study. We’re also shown how to make study aids for our children.
Moxie at She Has Moxie tells us about the table runner. This is an example of making making do with something on hand and with your own knowledge of craft.
The Frugal Panda tells us How to Save Money with Xeriscaping.
Next week’s host is Po Moyemu–In My Opinion. You can submit your article here.

Great job everyone! I am impressed with all of your talents and ideas.

Thanks for the carnival, and yes I’m planning on using them as Christmas gifts. Wild blueberries in winter just sounds wonderful to me.

Thanks for putting this all together! You might want to change some colors on your website; I had a very hard time reading the light colored text….it blends in too much with the white? I don’t know if it’s just on my computer, but I just thought I would let you know. Thanks again for all your hard work…I enjoyed all the articles!

Thanks everyone. I enjoyed seeing some blogs that I haven’t seen before. The recipes sounded great!
Veteran Military Wife: The text should be on top of a peachy colored box. We’re going to make some changes soon though. I started writing for Balance in Diet in July and I need to look through the wordpress themes to see what I like. I have a friend that will do some free designing for me too, so it’s just a matter of getting it all together.
